Simone Ryan fundraising for Irish Heart Foundation in Arctic Challenge for the Irish Heart Foundation 2027

I am taking part in Arctic Challenge to raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation and I’d love your support to help protect hearts in Ireland. ❤️ The Irish Heart Foundation’s mission is to eliminate preventable death and disability from heart disease and stroke and to support and care for those living with these life-changing conditions. From working closely with the Irish Heart Foundation and their service users during my PhD, I have seen the profound impact a stroke can have on people's lives, and how important their services are to help people rebuild their lives after stroke. The Irish Heart Foundation provides invaluable supports like peer support groups, access to professional counselling, a nurse phone support line, and courses to help improve wellbeing and quality of life. They also provide dedicated supports for younger stroke survivors, and with 1 in 4 strokes affecting people under 65, the impact on someone's life and identity can be huge. The Irish Heart Foundation relies on generous donations and fundraising to keep these services going, so any donation (no matter how small) really does make a difference to people and families affected by heart disease and stroke. Thanks so much for checking out my page and for any support you can give.

About Arctic Challenge for the Irish Heart Foundation 2027

We are taking 14 participants on this epic challenge to raise funds and awareness of the impacts of stroke and heart disease.

Following a stroke or heart event some people’s worlds are turned upside down when their abilities completely change, reshaping how they live in the world. They are forced to learn to manage their body’s new energy and capabilities in daily life and reimagine their lives going forward.

This challenge will be about learning new skills in a tough environment and carrying on even when it’s hard, because that’s what those living with the effects of a stroke or heart condition must do every day.

About Irish Heart Foundation

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death in both men and women. The tragic reality is – around 16 people will have a heart attack today. Just today, and every other day. And on each of those days, 20 others will have a stroke. These are extraordinary and stark facts. But the equally remarkable – and hopeful – reality is: 80% of early heart disease and stroke cases are preventable. That’s why the Irish Heart Foundation has been here for 60 years. Here to lead the charge to protect the cardiovascular health of everyone in Ireland. Here, to eliminate preventable death or disability. Here to collaborate. Here, not just as one of Ireland’s most trusted and effective charities, but to build a lifesaving movement across the country. We are here regardless of age, background or means. Here for every community, every school, and every workplace. Here for every heartbeat.
